#HateHasNoPlaceHere It’s embarrassing, and I’m downright ashamed.Īlthough I’m celebrating one year today, I’m doing it #Somberly and keeping in mind all the work *we* as a nation have to do to get things right. The #LongStrangeTrip I reference in every one of my photos refers to my journey of self-discovery *as well as* the utter obliteration that I, and I know many others as well, face in the midst of the ridiculous bullshit that goes on in this country. The motivation is twofold: to have a creative outlet as well as a place to take a stance. I also had no idea how much support I would receive for my work. It’s been one year since I started this photography journey, and I had no idea I’d have so much to post back then. We owe it to her and every single other person who died fighting for #SocialJustice to #NeverForget these efforts and keep pushing on. She was only one casualty in the long, infinitely long, list of casualties of those who have stood for what is right. Every time I go downtown, I stop by this spot and pay my respects. It’s good to re-center, remind, yourself why you do the things you do, believe the things you believe.
